Zella C. Duncan

June 26, 1948 ~ February 13, 2025

Zella C. Duncan

76, of Mooresville, passed away on February 13, 2025 at St. Francis Hospital in Mooresvile. Zella was born on June 26, 1948 in Manchester, Kentucky to the late Ernest and June Hayre.

Zella married the love of her life, Lonnie Duncan on July 10, 1971 and were married for over 40 years at the time of his passing in 2011. She worked in housekeeping for the Indianapolis International Airport for 30 years before retiring. However, staying at home didn’t suit Zella as she worked at Meijer’s in Camby for 6 years, where she met her best friend, Connie Duncan. Growing up on a farm in Kentucky, she loved good country cooking. Her family loved her homemade chicken and dumplings, crockpot green beans, and banana bread, just to name a few. In addition to cooking delicious homemade meals, she enjoyed traveling to Amish country in Shipshewana, crochet, collecting nearly 200 Longaberger baskets, and spending time tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She was also strong in her faith, attending Lifeline Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her home cooking, her impeccable dress, her lady like demeanor and cruising around in her stylish Hummer H2.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lonnie Duncan, sons Jason Scott, Lonnie L. Duncan, siblings Loren, Raymond, Fern and Ollie, as well as her son in law James Price.

She is survived by her daughter Tammy Price, siblings Joan Bernard, Jeannine Hoskins, Robert Hayre, grandchildren Lonnie L. Duncan, Jr., Sara Duncan, Madison (Christian) Neitzel, great grandchildren Mylee, Mayvis, Brayden, Ellie, Lonnie L. Duncan, III, best friend Connie Duncan, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Zella’s life on Monday, February 17th from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, with funeral services beginning at 2:00pm Monday February 17th in the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Tim Lindsey. Burial will be private in White Lick Cemetery.
