Barbara Joan Golay, 94, of Mooresville, fulfilled her mission in faith and went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 24, 2025, at IU Health Methodist. She was born in Indianapolis on November 10, 1930, to the late James H. and Laura Bernice (Pedigo) Kelly.
Barbara graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1949, where she was a proud majorette. She married Talmage “Tom” Golay on October 18, 1952, and they enjoyed 49 years together before his passing in 2001.
Barbara’s first job began in sales with L.S. Ayres. She worked several clerical jobs and was a school secretary for Walnut Grove Elementary School. Barbara and Talmage “Tom” opened Golay Glass in 1987. There, she was responsible for keeping the books.
Barbara dedicated her life to serving the Lord. She loved being involved and helping others in their faith. Barbara attended Lynhurst Baptist Church and Friendswood Baptist Church and enjoyed playing in the softball league. She was a member for over 40 years at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood. She loved singing in the church choir and organizing the senior trips.
Barbara had a passion for music and playing the piano. She especially enjoyed traveling and camping with her family, always with her camera in hand.
Barbara will be deeply missed by many, including her children, Debra Frew, Denise Whitfield (husband, David), and Jeffrey Golay; grandchildren, Alex Frew, Megan Frew, Melissa Golay, Joseph Golay (wife, Drew), Zachary Golay; one great-grandson, Eyden; and a grand-dog, Sonny.
In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her loving husband, Talmage “Tom” Golay; and brother, James Kelly.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 4:00 p. to 8:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 11:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Following the service, Barbara will be laid to rest next to her husband, Talmage “Tom”, in White Lick Cemetery.
