James Byron Davenport

James Byron Davenport, 89, of Indianapolis, died on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the Altenheim Family – first Senior Living facility in Indianapolis.  Jim, as most knew him, was born in Mooresville on November 30, 1935 to the late Frank Alonzo Davenport and the late Mary N. (McElwain) Davenport.

He married Anola Marie Hanna on October 24, 1959.  Sadly, Anola passed all too soon in 1970.  Jim worked at the Indianapolis Stockyards for 24 years before retiring in 1979.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews including Randal Davenport of Indianapolis, Charles Ozment of Melbourne, FL, Linda Allison of Mooresville, Rosemary Curry of Mooresville, and Joanna Jones of Mooresville.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Davenport; wife, Anola Davenport; siblings, Leroy Davenport, Merle Miller, and Eddie Davenport.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Friday, May 2^nd at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Brazil where he will be laid to rest.  Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.
