Ricky P. Brown, Sr., 69, Avon, formerly of Mooresville, passed away May 28, 2025. Mr. Brown was born on September 4, 1955, in Albany, Kentucky, to the late Paul and Ruby (Updike) Brown.
Armed with an exceptionally hard work ethic, Ricky worked as a construction foreman for Wilhelm for 30 years. He was a member of Putnamville Baptist Church. He loved to watch sports and was an avid fan of the Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, and IU basketball. He also enjoyed racing, always looking forward to the Indy 500 and other NASCAR races. Ricky will be remembered for his quick wit, his caring nature, and strong love and devotion to his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Shannon Weckoski; siblings, William Brown, Mary Gibbons, Herbert Brown, Christine Cook, Eugene Brown, Bessie Bingham, Keith Brown, Roy Brown, Garland Brown, Willard Brown, Kaytheleen Gibson.
Survivors include his son, Ricky (Kristi) Brown, Jr. of Avon; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Michael) Hawkins of Danville, Faith (Jalen) Garthus of Beech Grove, Kaleb (Chelsea) Sanders of North Carolina, and Kaylenna Sanders of Carmel; great-grandchild, Elijah Sanders; siblings, Pauline Keown, James Brown, Susie Thomas; former wives, Cheryl Brown and Jackie Brown.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 5, 2025. 4 to 7 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 E. High St., Mooresville. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Cremation will take place following services at the Morgan County Crematory, Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to Putnamville Baptist Church Missions. Celebrate Ricky’s life by wearing your favorite Hawaiian shirt to services.

Uncle Rick has always been a real joy to me. He had a way of always seeing the bright side of life. I appreciated the way he deeply loved his family and made them and me feel special. I will truly miss you Uncle Rick. Thank you for your love and phone calls always cheering me on.
