Edith Marie Hawkins, 84, of Camby, passed away on June 5, 2025, at Franciscan Health Mooresville. She was born in Martinsville on April 1, 1941, to the late Benjamin and Georgia (Hillman) Burton. Edie, as most people knew her, attended Martinsville schools and worked for Federal-Mogul for over 30 years before retiring when the business closed in 1997.
In her free time, she enjoyed gambling, fishing, gardening, and traveling. Edie loved everyone, and everyone loved Edie. Most referred to her as Mom. Her kindness and generosity were profound in everything she did.
Edie is preceded in death by her parents.
She will be dearly missed by her sons, Mike Hawkins and Kenneth Hawkins (Georgette); daughters, India Lewis and Diane Barger; grandchildren, Ricky Knapp, Shauna Knapp, Tyler Martin, Camden Martin, Krysta Martin, Lacy Howard (Joe), and Phillip Hawkins (Adrianne); great-grandchildren, Auria, Damien, Cameron, Natalie, and Caiden; brothers, Frankie Burton (Jenny), Robert Burton (Nanette), and Roger Burton (Brenda); and sister, Carolyn Harris (Jim).
Final arrangements and cremation is entrusted to Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville.
