Judy graduated from Martinsville High School in 1958. She married David Mason in December of 1963, and they shared 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2013.
In her early years, Judy worked as a bank teller and a beautician. Once their children arrived, she stayed home to raise them. Judy was a giver, having volunteered at the Indianapolis Zoo and as an EMT for the Brooklyn Fire Department. She was also a Girl Scout and Brownie leader.
Judy was a talented woman. Her artistic abilities won her several local awards for her paintings. She was also a self-taught musician, playing the guitar, Indian pan flute, and dulcimer. She and David enjoyed participating in rendezvous around the country and even hosted events on their land. Together they made pottery, baskets, stained glass, and her favorite, an Indian drum. Judy lived for the outdoors, enjoying activities such as camping, fishing, and raising horses.
Judy’s brightness will be missed by many, including her three children; Michael Mason (Teresa), Teresa Mason-Terrell, and Tamara Mason (Pete Martinez); grandchildren, Derek Peterson, Zachary Peterson, Michael Mason (Hannah), David Mason (Randy), Paige Coddington (Jesse), Blake Martinez-Mason (Malissa), and Aviel Martinez-Mason; and great-grandchildren, Forest, Keaton, Lucy, Annie, Pippa, and Willow.
In addition to her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her husband, David Mason; brothers, Thomas and Theodore Webb; and sisters, Betty June Buroker and Janet Wilson.
