Isla Grace Evans, just three months and three days old, passed peacefully from this life while in her parents’ arms on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. She was born premature at only twenty-four weeks and five days to Samantha Joann Jones and Brandon Blake Evans on May 12, 2025 at Riley Hospital.
From the very beginning, Isla fought courageously to overcome the obstacles of her premature birth. At birth she weighed only 1 pound 9 ounces, and was 12 inches long, but make no mistake, she was feisty! Members of her medical team noted that they had never seen a baby born as early as Isla breathe on their own for as long as she did. Her ninety-six days on this earth were undoubtedly far too short, but the impact she left was immeasurable. She motivated and inspired all of those around her including her devoted family and her wonderful medical team.
Isla and her parents cherished the time they spent holding her and reading to her. She also especially loved her spa days—bath time was always a favorite. Her strawberry blonde hair, tiny fingers, and big, beautiful eyes are just a few of Isla’s characteristics that her parents will never forget.
She will be missed by her heartbroken family including her father and mother, Brandon Evans and Samantha Jones of Mooresville; paternal grandparents, Brian Evans of Middlebury and Garnetta and Chuck Robbins of Goshen; maternal grandparents, Steve Jones and Lavonne French-Jones of Mooresville; aunts and uncles, Carole Fry, Nick Fry, and Adam Jones; and paternal great grandparents, Paul and Sharon Hapner.
She was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Charles and Jeanne Jones and Mary French.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, August 23rd 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. The funeral service will follow beginning at 4:00 at the funeral home. Her earthly remains will be cremated following the services.
In loving memory, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the NICU Nest fund at Riley Children’s Health, with gifts dedicated in honor of Isla Grace, via https://give.rileykids.org/give/551117/#!/donation/checkout.
