Carl Martin Pearson, 76, of Plainfield, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 while in the comfort of his home with family at his side.  He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 24, 1949 to the late Carl Mauritz Pearson and Harriet (Harper) Pearson.

He graduated from George Rogers Clark High School with the class of 1967.  He then went on to Purdue University and earned his bachelor’s degree.  He worked as a civil engineer for Kenny Construction Company for 31 years before retiring in 2013.  He is a member of the Saint Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield.

He married the love of his life, Kathy Ann Ortega, on June 8, 1974.  They have enjoyed over 51 years of marriage.  He was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed model railroads, reading, gardening, and cooking.  He also was a Purdue sports, Cubs, and Bears fan.  Carl adored his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews!

Carl will be deeply missed by many family and friends including his wife, Kathy Pearson; mother-in-law Darlene Ortega; sisters- and brothers-in-law Patricia Shepherd, Jim Shepherd, Claudia Droski, Rick Ortega; nieces and nephews, Justin (wife, Stephanie) Shepherd, Matthew (wife, Lauren) Shepherd, Torrance Shepherd, Shannon Shepherd, Michaelene Droski, Danielle Droski, Rick Swick, Julie (husband, David) Dahleen, Pamela Brown, Steven Jensen, Ben (wife, Joanne) Jensen, David (wife, Mary) Jensen, and Lorrie (husband, Steve) Schaefer; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Harriet Pearson; sister, Shelby Coffey; father-in-law, Claude Ortega; and nephew Scott Jensen.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, October 31st from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville.  Immediately following visitation at 7:00pm, family and friends will gather for a time of prayer and eulogizing in the chapel at the funeral home.  A Catholic Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 4th at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 1210 E. Main St, Plainfield.  Inurnment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield.
