Christi Jean Steelman, 43, of Martinsville, Indiana, passed away on December 16, 2025. Born in Indianapolis on June 29, 1982, Christi was a beloved daughter, mother, partner, and grandmother. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Linda (Walden) Steelman.

A 2000 graduate of Martinsville High School, Christi went on to earn her Medical Assistant certification from Indiana Business College. While her career began in the medical field, she found her true passion serving others as a waitress at Morgan’s Cafe, where she worked for over 20 years. Christi’s warm smile, kind heart, and dedication made her a favorite among her customers and coworkers.

Outside of work, Christi had many passions that brought her joy. She was an avid gardener, finding peace in cultivating both flowers and vegetables. Her love for plants extended into her home, where she cared for a collection of houseplants that flourished under her attentive care. Christi also enjoyed crafting, collecting rocks, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.

Christi’s life partner, Jeremy, shared many memorable trips with her, including peaceful cabin getaways to Lakeshore, Michigan, where they enjoyed the beauty of nature and each other’s company.

Christi was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Steelman. She is survived by her children, Dominik Tackett (Danielle), Chelsey Tackett, and Hunter Tackett; life partner, Jeremy Tackett; grandchildren, DJ and Denver; mother, Linda Steelman; sisters, Dawn Steelman, Mandi Steelman, Cortney Arthur (Chris), and Erin Bennett (David); mother-in-law, Teresa Tackett; along with extended family and many friends whose lives she touched in a truly special way.

Christi’s spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville.

  1. I will miss her so much. So many memories of her. One of my favorite memories of her, was when my mom was dying and we knew she wasn’t going to make it, Christi didn’t say a word but just hugged me and that meant the world to me.
