Janet Ruth Thompson, 87, of Danville, left this life peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2026 with family at her side at The Villages of Avon. She was born January 21, 1939 in Richmond, Indiana to the late Russell Booher and Francis (Bowlan) Bretti.
Janet was a devoted homemaker whose nurturing spirit created a warm and welcoming home for her family. She married the love of her life, Glenn Thompson, on May 8, 1964. He preceded her in passing on December 26, 2024.
In her spare time, Janet delighted in sewing, solving crosswords, and engaging in lively games of Rummikub, Scrabble, and Solitaire. Whether she was crafting a quilt or gathering around a table for board games, Janet’s infectious laughter and playful spirit filled every moment with joy. Her love for dessert, traveling, and camping showcased her adventurous spirit and her desire to create lasting memories with loved ones.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by many including her sons, Christopher (wife, Shirley) Thompson of Mooresville and Michael (wife, Beverly) Thompson of Coatesville; daughters, Teri (husband, Bob) Cobb of Indianapolis and Robin Coffey of Reelsville; eleven grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, February 7th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Janet’s Life Celebration Service will follow beginning at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Her earthly remains will be cremated following the service.
