Jesse E. “Ed” Stanley
80, of Indianapolis, left this world on March 7, 2026. Ed was born on May 23, 1945 in Jellico, Tennessee to the late Toy Arthur and Opal Cleo (Hatfield) Stanley.

He attended Mooresville High School. Ed was a veteran of the United State Navy, serving as a radarman on many aircraft carriers including the USS Kearsarge, during the Vietnam War. He worked as a technician at AT&T for 35 years, retiring in 2003.

A lifelong learner, he enjoyed discovering new words, reading, genealogy, and never missed dissecting every obituary in the newspaper. Ed found peace in the solitary pursuits of gardening, especially tomatoes, and enjoyed walking.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Hubert James Stanley and Billie Ray Stanley.

He is survived by his children Brian (Chasity) Stanley, Kevin (Andrea) Stanley, Kimberly (Scott) Brooks, Cara (Billy) Munger, Steven (Joni) Stanley, Aaron (Abigail) Stanley, Jonathan (Sarah) Stanley, Cori Stanley; siblings Jerry (Shirley) Stanley, Alvin (Cheryl) Stanley, Susie Stanley (Don Rector); 18 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.

Services are pending at this time.
