Myra Lee Carter, 77, of Mooresville, passed away on April 19, 2026, at Community Hospital South.
She was born on December 8, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Paul and Mary (Fowlkes) Westenhofer. Myra married Clyde Carter on January 7, 1966, and he preceded her in death in 2018.
Myra was a devoted member of the Mooresville Eastern Star and enjoyed spending time with her Bunco group. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—working on jigsaw puzzles, going out to lunch with friends, and sitting on her front porch feeding and watching the squirrels. She dearly loved her dogs, Landon and Chloe, and cherished the companionship they brought her.
Family meant everything to Myra. She looked forward each year to hosting her beloved Christmas Eve breakfast and treasured every opportunity to gather with those she loved. She also enjoyed collecting gingerbread decorations, watching baseball and Gunsmoke, and lending her creative touch by painting Clyde’s woodworking projects.
Known for her kind, giving, and sweet nature, Myra will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her warmth, generosity, and love for family and friends leave a lasting legacy.
Survivors include her daughters, Pam Hoff (Patrick) and Lori Smith (Rod); grandchildren, Amber Thompson (Ernie), Stephen Hoff, Stewart Hoff, Spencer Hoff, and Gracie Smith; great-grandchildren, Madison, Ben, and Lilly; sister, Paulette Parsley; brother-in-law, Randy Rogers; sisters-in-law, Judy Westenhofer, Paula Walker, and Barbara Jester; and several extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Myra was preceded in death by her son, Jason Carter; and siblings, Myron Westenhofer, John Westenhofer, Marsha Rogers, Jerry Westenhofer, David Westenhofer, Fern Dean, and David Jester.
In honoring Myra’s wishes, her earthly remains will be cremated, and the family will host a celebration of life at daughter, Lori Smith’s, home on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville is entrusted with Myra’s cremation arrangements.
