Patricia Ann Baker

April 23, 1945 ~ April 20, 2026

Born in: Bennettsville, South Carolina
Resided in: Mooresville, Indiana

Patricia Ann Baker, 80, of Mooresville, passed away on April 20, 2026, at Franciscan Health Indianapolis.

She was born on April 23, 1945, in Bennettsville, South Carolina, to the late Delbert and Margaret (Watson) Cooper. Patricia graduated from George Washington High School in 1963 and later attended Ivy Tech from 1991 to 1993, where she studied medical administration.

On January 22, 1968, she married Charles Baker, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, family, and shared adventures. Patricia retired from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, where she worked as a payroll clerk for about 10 years. She also dedicated time earlier in her career to Mill Creek Schools.

Patricia was deeply involved in her community. She was a member of the Mooresville First United Methodist Quilting Group, the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, and the Mooresville Public Library Book Club. Over the years, she also gave her time to many organizations, including the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in Amo and Danville, Amo Public Relations, Amo First Baptist Church children’s activities, the Amo Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary, and the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. She proudly served her community by working election polls for over 10 years.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—reading, writing, art, and quilting—and she especially loved watching the Hallmark Channel. After retirement, Patricia and Charles enjoyed traveling together and making cherished memories. Above all, she loved her family deeply and took great pride in her grandchildren.

Patricia will be remembered for her caring spirit, her dedication to others, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Charles Baker; sons, John (Shawn), Jim (Joann), and Craig Baker; daughter, Joann Chambers; grandchildren, Zachary Chambers (Sara), Ian, Ben, Abby, Evan, and Elise Baker; brother, Steve Cooper; sister, Marilyn Scalf (Steve); and several extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her infant twin sister, Cecelia Cooper; and sister, Carolyn Taylor.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. 1. Mom, we love you SO MUCH. We are going to miss you each and every day. But knowing that your suffering is over and you have gone to be with the Lord makes it bearable.
    Love, Joann

  2. Pat, it was a wonderful blessing being in the quilting group with you. You had a beautiful smile and were so thoughtful. I’ll remember your camping adventures and the fact we shared the same anniversary date. It happened to be the same date as a political figure. We also had the same political views. I thank God you are no longer ill. I’ll see you again one day. Love, Nancy
