Fred Moore Conrad, 88, passed away at home with family by his side on Monday, May 18, 2026. He was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana to the late Gregg Dewey Conrad and Verna (Moore) Conrad on June 25, 1937.
He graduated from St. Bernice High School in 1955 and proudly served in the United States Navy for four years, earning the rank of Petty Officer, 3rd Class. Fred retired from Prudential Insurance company in 1993 as a registered representative, garnering many achievement awards throughout his long and successful career. He was a mentor to many young professionals in the financial services industry, and his knowledge was often sought out by clients and financial professionals alike.
After retiring from Prudential, he focused his practice on estate planning needs and worked tirelessly to assist his clients on ways to provide for and protect their families. It was a mission for Fred, and he continued in this calling for the balance of his life.
A dedicated family man, he relished time spent with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He married his best friend and life companion, Teresa Conrad, on June 25, 1988.
Fred loved the great outdoors. He was an avid golfer; he loved fishing with his grandkids and riding his tractors. One of his greatest joys in life was funding an annual family reunion in Myrtle Beach each year. His generosity ensured that all the kids, grandkids, and cousins were able to gather and connect again each year, no matter how far away they lived. The “Myrtle Beach experience” became a source of wonderful stories for everyone and was only part of his legacy. Fred was also a ‘city’ farmer, enjoying his horses and other farm animals over the years. Additionally, he was a licensed pilot.
Fred was also an active and proud member of Freemasonry. Later in life, he fulfilled a longtime personal goal by becoming a Mason, attaining the degree of Master Mason and later being raised to the 32nd Degree in the Scottish Rite. He continued his Masonic journey through the York Rite as well, deeply valuing the friendships, fellowship, and spirit of service the fraternity brought to his life.
He will be deeply missed by many, including his wife, Teresa Conrad, daughters Monica (husband Chris) Conrad, Laura-Lee (husband Sam) Pitt, Christina Conrad, Darcie Kornmeyer (husband Matt), daughter-in-law Gina Conrad, and grandchildren Emily, Allison, Chelsea, Sarah, Isabella, Nora, Henrietta, Xavier, Ben, Henry, and Hattie; and great-grandchildren Miles, Emmitt, and Moremi.
He was preceded in death by his brother Don Conrad, sister Dallas Sargeant, son Randolph (Randy) Conrad, and grandson Christopher Conrad.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, May 25th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service and Crematory in Mooresville. I was only 18 when I met Fred and he saw talents and abilities in me that I did not see in myself. His mentorship encouraged me to do more with my life than I had planned.
His love for people and enthusiasm for life was contagious!!
I will always be thankful for the opportunity I had to be his friend!!
My deepest sympathy to the family.
Mike
