Resided in: Mooresville, Indiana
He was a man who worked hard and played often. Wink loved fishing, shooting pool, gardening, horse racing, and spending time with family and friends. He also possessed an extraordinary understanding of the natural world, which he enjoyed sharing with others.
Though he created countless cherished memories as a friend, husband, brother, and father, he shone brightest in his role as a grandfather. The impact he had on those around him will continue for generations.
Wink proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a longtime member of the Kentucky Colonels, the UAW, and the Masonic Lodge, maintaining his Masonic membership for more than 50 years.
He retired at the age of 48 after a 30-year career as an electrician with International Harvester/Navistar. Never one to remain idle for long, he later worked for Link-Belt for approximately 10 years before enjoying a well-earned second retirement.
Wink married the love of his life, Billy Sue Brown, just weeks after returning home from military service in Germany. Together, they shared 62 years of love, laughter, and adventure. They raised two children and welcomed two granddaughters, instilling in each of them an appreciation for nature, a sense of adventure, and an unwavering devotion to family.
Wink is survived by his son, Roen Allen Brown (Marsha); his daughter, Kimmie Stephenson; his granddaughters, Lacey Hawley (Chase) and Josey Brown (Mike Holder); his sisters, Jeanette Caudill, Cora Halcomb (Tooster), Joan Roberts-Miller (Sherman), and Charlene Drakos (Tom); his brother-in-law, Jack Caudill; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Phoebe Brown; his beloved wife, Billy Sue Brown; his son-in-law, Kelly Stephenson; his brothers, Douglas Brown, Paul Brown, Rex Brown, Harold Brown, and Donald Brown; and his sisters, Mildred Rogers and Helen Lee.
Wink’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his humor, compassion, generosity, and steadfast loyalty. He will be remembered for his wit, wisdom, poetic sense of humor, and determination to do things his own way. He lived boldly and encouraged others to do the same. His philosophy on life was simple: “It will either be alright, or it won’t.”
