Betty Lou Kephart Mitchell
85, of Camby passed on June 10, 2026, at home, surrounded by her family. Betty was born on June 21, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Mary “Peggy” (McGown) and Wilbur Kephart. She graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1958 and married Kenneth E. Mitchell in 1961.
Together, they built a life centered on family and welcomed their son, Wendell. Betty worked for many years at CCP Specialty Products before retiring. In retirement, she embraced the things she loved most: spending time with her grandson, Colton, traveling with her husband, enjoying gatherings with her Red Hat friends, and playing Bunco.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth E. Mitchell. She is survived by her son, Wendell; grandson, Colton; great grandson John; future daughter-in-law, Heather; Heather’s daughter, Hayli; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Betty was known for her warmth, sense of humor, and genuine interest in others. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making people feel welcome. Her love for family, friends, and community enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Betty’s greatest legacy was the love she shared so freely. She found joy in simple moments; cherished time spent with those she loved and created lasting memories wherever she went. Her kindness, laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she is gone from our sight, she will remain forever in our hearts.
In accordance with Betty’s wishes, no services will be held. Family and friends are encouraged to honor her memory in their own way by sharing stories, laughter, and kindness, just as Betty did throughout her life.
Final arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Please visit www.CarlisleBranson.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.
