Rhea M. Sawyers
94, of Mooresville, passed away on July 9, 2026, at Countryside Meadows in Avon. Rhea was born on April 19, 1932, in Mooresville, Indiana, in the same house she lived in throughout her life, to the late Lucy Katherine (Bonham) and George Kenneth Brown.

Rhea was a proud graduate of Mooresville High School. She worked as cook for North Madison and Neil Armstrong Elementaries for 26 years, retiring in 1995. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, watching games shows, John Wayne movies, playing cards and board games, crocheting, gardening, canning green beans, and making her own blackberry jelly. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook (especially her chili), who was loyal and loved her family dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Betty Lou, Kenneth Junior, Eleanor Irene, George Marion, Onis Lloyd, Wendy Sue; a son David A. Sawyer, and a grandson Aaron Wayne Sawyer.

She is survived by her husband, Charles K. Sawyers; son Keith (Shirley) Sawyer; granddaughter Brandy Sawyer; siblings John Wayne Brown, and Kathy Lynn Tripp.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Rhea’s life on Saturday, July 18th from 4:00pm- 6:00pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 20th at 10:00am in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
