Mildred M. Stephens
88, of Plainfield, passed away on July 12, 2026, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Mildred was born on August 13, 1937 in Jabez, Kentucky to the late Lola E. (Winchester) and Arvis Earl Gadberry.
Born with a kind, caring servant’s heart, combined with a strong work ethic, Mildred worked alongside her husband as a trim carpenter, bookkeeper for Bobby Stephens Construction Company for many years, as well as being a proud homemaker. She enjoyed serving and helping others as she collected items such a canned goods, clothing, shoes, hats and other items to help those less fortunate such as Churches in Mission and the Wheeler Mission as well as to support missions through her church, First Separate Baptist Church. She will be remembered as the heart of the family, who maintained a home filled with love, ice cream and soda pop for the grandkids; a place that everyone could call home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Stephens, and a brother Charles Gadberry.
She is survived by her children, Vickie Collins (David) of Georgia, Dennis Stephens of Mooresville, and Angela Moraitis (John) of Florida; brother, Wendell Gadberry, of Kentucky; grandchildren, Shawna Rene, Christopher, Amanda, Valerie, Brad, and Robert; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Te´a, Austin, Hayley, Tracey, Robert Allen, as well as great-great grandchildren Stella, Evelyn, Archer, Ariya, and Justice.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 17th at 12:00pm in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
