Born in: Indianapolis , Indiana
Resided in: Mooresville, Indiana

Martha Kay Turner, 80, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, at Worthington Place Assisted Living in Camby.

Martha was born in Indianapolis on November 10, 1945, to the late Alva and Elsie (Mitchell) Girdley. She married the love of her life, Tim Turner, on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1972. Together, they shared 48 years of marriage until his passing in 2021.

Martha worked in quality control for 30 years at Breiner in Avon, Indiana. Following her retirement from Breiner, she continued doing work she enjoyed, spending eight years part-time at Cobweb & Roses flower shop in Mooresville.

Martha found great joy in the simple things in life. She had a deep love for her nine beloved furbabies throughout the years and was passionate about photography. She enjoyed gardening and took pride in growing corn and beans, as well as tending to her strawberry patch. Her love of nature and the beauty around her was reflected in the many moments she captured through her photography.

Martha was a long-time, faithful member of Whiteland New Life Fellowship Church, where her faith was an important part of her life.

Martha will be lovingly remembered for her kind heart, her devotion to those she loved, her love of animals and nature, and the many memories she created throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by her brothers, Warren, Robert, and Daniel Girdley; and sisters, Betty Nevins, Patty Frahm, Lola Bell, and Doris Harness.

Survivors include her brother, David Girdley (wife, Nancy); sister-in-law, Polly Shingleton (husband, Kevin); and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 11:00 am to 12:00 Noon in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Jim Sedinger officiating. Martha will be laid to rest next to her husband, Tim, in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Guestbook

  1. I met Martha in 2006 at New Life. She was the first to befriend me, and we stayed friends for 20 years. I missed visiting the last Saturday, and I will always be sorry I did not make that one last visit. When we last visited she spoke of how she looked forward to seeing Tim again.
A few years ago she confided in me she did not know if she was really saved. I sat with her and we talked about it. She knew the Lord, she was saved. So now I look forward to seeing her when I finally get to go home. So many must be hugging her and welcoming her. She was so loved!
