Robert Alan Collins

Robert Alan Collins, 73, of Mooresville, passed away at Franciscan Health Indianapolis on September 19, 2026, following an eight-year health battle.

Alan was born in Martinsville on April 1, 1953, the son of Loren and Velma (Bayliff) Collins. He attended schools in Martinsville and Mooresville.

On November 27, 1976, Alan married the love of his life, Kathy Knight. Together, they shared nearly 50 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, memories, and family.

Alan worked at Sumco for more than 30 years, where he spent time in both the shipping and maintenance departments. He took pride in his work and in the many years he devoted to his career.

An outdoorsman at heart, Alan enjoyed spending time in nature. In his younger and healthier years, he loved deer hunting and especially enjoyed fishing. He also had a passion for classic cars. Whether admiring them, talking about them, or attending a car show, classic cars were something that always brought him joy.

Above all else, Alan loved his family. They were the most important part of his life, and the love he shared with them will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

Alan will be deeply missed by his wife, Kathy Collins; daughter, Misty Collins; sister, Linda Collins; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by his siblings, Gene Collins, Ruth Buchanan, Nancy Smith, and Teresa Melvin.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in Centerton Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest alongside family members.
