Nina Sue Crawford, 65, of Coatesville, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at Community Hospital South. She was born in Indianapolis on November 13, 1960 to the late Leland Ray McGowan and Mary L. (Mitchell) McGowan.

She previously worked as a dedicated housekeeper at Altenheim in Indianapolis, where she touched the lives of many with her warm spirit and unwavering work ethic.

Nina was a loving mother to her three daughters who will carry her memory in their hearts forever. She enjoyed planting flowers, finding joy and solace in nurturing nature, and loved spending her leisure time fishing. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in her love for hummingbirds, the thrill of watching the show “Survivor,” and the serenity brought by rainstorms.

Nina will be deeply missed by many including her daughters, Andrea Barnhart of Indianapolis, Kelly Barnhart of Indianapolis, and Melissa (husband, Travis) Martin of Indianapolis; sister, Dedra Pitcher of Coatesville; and grandchildren, Abigail, Brandon, Mason, and Trentin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Mary; and sister, Terisa Ornberg.

In keeping with her wishes, Nina’s earthly remains have been cremated and there are no public services scheduled. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville.

  2. You will be missed dearly I can remember when I did not know what I was doing at the nursing home and you and Melissa was there to help me and even when I was pregnant with my daughter u was there

  3. Nina was a real true friend always seeking to help those around her in anyway she could. Loved to tease and laugh. Great to work with at the Altenheim.

  4. My sister twin cousin. For all the time we spent together as babies, sisters, cousins, teenagers, moms, partners in crime and secrets we shared, I’ve missed you long before you left this world. I’m glad we got a few hours together before you went Home. I’ll love and cherish you forever.

  5. Omgosh, I can’t believe it….gone way too soon cousin. Watching you grow up through the years was truly interesting. Lol …. lots of laughter & antics through our childhood.You are truly loved & missed by many.

  6. Nina you will always be remembered with love, a great companion. I have fond memories of our time together, especially years spent boating on Lake Cumberland. You were the best first mate a Captain could ever want.

  8. Cousin? Aunt? 2nd mom? Yes,yes and yes. I will always remember staying the night at her house or her girls staying with us. We were always together. Growing up spending July 3rd in your backyard, dodging the rouge fireworks, was always a blast. Thank you for being a mom to me when I was with you. Thank you for giving me sister cousins to grow up with. We will miss you.

  9. I honestly don’t know the right words to say.. I loved you a lot Aunt Nina. Some of my favorite memories growing up were those summers i spent with you and my cousins, the times you would come visit us for the weekend or the trips we all took to Kentucky. Life stepped in as it does and we hadn’t talked in years but you’ve always had a place in my heart and ill always remember the times we spent together and the talks we used to have. You helped me through a lot of hard times as a teen and young adult and I’ll never forget you. I love you Aunt Nina. Please hug my mom for me 💘
