Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Jean Schilling, 90, of Mooresville, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at her home at Meadow Lakes Assisted Living with family by her side. Born on November 25, 1935 to the late Gaylord Knox and Louise (Wilson) Knox, Jackie grew up in central Indiana.

After starting her career with Indiana State Medical Association, she dedicated the majority her career to serving others as the Executive Vice President of the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians where a medical student and resident fund was established in her honor at her retirement in 2001. Her commitment to community and her passion for helping others was evident in how she worked with others, prioritizing their well-being and dignity. Prior to her retirement, Jackie was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash award by Governor Frank O’Bannon in November of 2000.

Jackie married the love of her life, Charles ‘Chuck’ Schilling, on April 1, 1962. Together, they enjoyed golfing, traveling, and building a life with their children. They celebrated 40 years of marriage before his death on June 15, 2002.

Jackie was known for her kindness and her love for people, she the perfect example of a social butterfly. She was always making new friends and adopting them into her family. She loved to travel because it gave her a chance to meet new people all over the world but she always felt most at home in Mooresville, Indiana. As an avid golfer, Jackie found peace in the views of the greens and joy in the relationships she created on the courses.

Jackie’s faith in God was a deeply personal part of her life, bringing her comfort until the end. She would spend her mornings with a cup of coffee and ’talking to God’.

Jackie will be missed by many including her brother, Richard (wife, Joanne) Knox.

She will be remembered by her son, Timothy (wife, Tina) Pierce; daughters, Kimberly Schilling, Robin Schilling, and Jennifer Broughton. Known as Nanny to her grandchildren, she will be remembered by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Jackie was proceeded in passing by her daughter, Joni Pierce.

In honor of Jackie’s memory, memorial donations may be made to Charity House, a ministry supporting those overcoming addiction and homelessness in the southwest Indianapolis community where she worked for many years and her late husband grew up. Written condolences to be shared with family may be mailed to her granddaughter, Sara Hill, at 730 Kilbourne Dr., Greenwood, IN 46142. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a memorial donation, as a celebration will be held at a later date.

In keeping with her wishes, Jackie’s earthly remains have been cremated. The family will host a Celebration of Life on November 1, 2026. Cremation has been entrusted to Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville.
