In Loving Memory of Mary Ann Baase
Mary Ann Baase, age 69, was a beautiful soul whose life was defined by love, faith, hard work, and a heart that always seemed to have room for one more person. She was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and, most precious to her, a Mimi. Though her time here has come to an end, the love she gave so freely and the memories she created will live on forever in the hearts of those blessed enough to know her.
Mary Ann was a woman with the sweetest soul. She was loving, caring, kind, selfless, and determined, with a strength that carried her through life and a heart that always put others before herself. She worked hard, loved deeply, and gave of herself without hesitation. She had a way of making people feel loved simply by being who she was. Her love was genuine, her spirit was strong, and her heart was always in everything she did.
Above all, Mary Ann loved God and her faith. She cherished her religion and found joy in learning all she could about the Lord. Her church group and the friendships she formed there were an important part of her life, bringing her fellowship, connection, and opportunities to grow in her faith. Her love for God was a part of who she was, and it was reflected in the kindness, compassion, and selflessness she showed to others. We find comfort in knowing that the faith she held so close to her heart now carries her into the loving arms of the Lord.
Her greatest earthly loves were her children, Gabrielle and Benjamin, and her grandchildren, Nathaniel and Winnie. Being a mother was a gift she carried with her always, but becoming a Mimi brought a special kind of joy to her heart. She loved her babies with everything she had, and that love was one of the most beautiful parts of her. Her family was her heart, her purpose, and a love that could never be measured. The memories she created, the lessons she taught, and the love she poured into each of them will remain a part of their lives forever.
And then there was Mary Ann’s personality — one that could never be forgotten. She was funny, spirited, and full of life, with a laugh so unmistakable that you could hear it no matter where you were. It was the kind of laugh that filled a room, brought smiles to faces, and became a memory all its own. She had a competitive side, too, and if there was a game to be played, she certainly wasn’t there to lose! Her determination and playful spirit made even the simplest moments memorable.
Mary Ann was a beautiful mix of toughness and femininity. She was a tomboy at heart, never afraid to get her hands dirty or work up a sweat in the yard. Yet, no matter how much work she had done, she still loved her makeup and made sure her hair was done. She had an artistic side that allowed her to see beauty in her own way, and she carried herself with a spirit that was uniquely hers. She was hardworking, independent, and strong, but underneath that strength was the tenderest heart.
Mary Ann leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in years, but in the lives she touched, the love she gave, and the memories that will forever bring both smiles and tears. She will be missed by her family, her friends, her church community, and everyone who had the privilege of sharing in her life. Her absence will be deeply felt in the everyday moments — in family gatherings, friendly competitions, conversations about faith, time spent outdoors, and in the sound of a familiar laugh that will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved her.
Though our hearts grieve the loss of someone so deeply loved, we take comfort in the promise of our faith: that death is not the end, and that those who belong to the Lord are held in His eternal love. We imagine Mary Ann at peace, free from the burdens of this world, embraced by the God she loved so dearly.
Mary Ann’s life was a gift, her love was her legacy, and her spirit will never be forgotten. She may no longer be here for us to hold, but she will forever live in the hearts of her children, her grandchildren, and all those who were fortunate enough to call her family and friend.
Her legacy lives on in her children: daughter Gabrielle Mayes (Toby West) and son Benjamin (Kayte) Mayes. She is also survived by her siblings, Martha “Marty” Reardon, Robert (Penny) Baase, and Paul (Carla) Baase; her adored grandchildren Nathaniel Mayes-West and Winnie Mayes; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is reunited in peace with her parents and sister, Robin Baase.
Rest peacefully, Mary Ann. You were loved beyond words, and you will be missed beyond measure. Until we meet again.
