Alford Junior Strong
76, of Mooresville passed away on August 22, 2025, at home. Al was born on March 31, 1949, in Tennessee to the late Joe and Dorothy (Kellow) Strong.
He was a graduate of Cascade High School and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Upon returning home, Al worked as a certified welder for many years before retiring in 2015. He enjoyed staying active playing golf as well as coaching and umpiring his daughter’s softball games. Additionally, he enjoyed woodworking, playing with his two French Bulldogs, and was a member of the Plainfield Elks Club. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family deeply.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his three daughters, Linda (Anderson) Strong, and three grandchildren Connor, Tyler, and Bruno.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Shelly (Fischer) Strong; daughters Rebecca Harvey, Robin Batton, Laura Giovanoni, Rhonda Huerta, Megan Macki (Patrick); son Michael Strong; sisters Francis Arnold (Charlie), Evelyn Burrell (Mike), Linda Stein (Mike); grandchildren Nikolas, Addison, Anthony, Hayden, Gabi, Olivia, Avery, Hannah, Gianna, Alexia, Maya, Malia, Malik, Monroe; mother in law Frances Fischer; sister in law Julie Fischer Richert, as well as two nieces and five nephews, who will all miss him dearly.
In keeping with his wishes, Al was cremated and his family will gather to celebrate his life privately.
