Allan Jakob Brown-Newberry

Allan Jakob Brown-Newberry, 41, West Newton, passed away March 20, 2023.  Jake was born July 19, 1981, in Indianapolis.

Jake attended school in Decatur Township before transferring to Gibault School for Boys in Terre Haute.  He proudly served in the United States Navy and was a proud American.  A self-taught and accomplished cook, he was the “Master of the Grill”.  Jake really did know his way around the kitchen though and was quite talented in merging the right flavors to create wonder dishes.  Jake loved the outdoors, camping, gardening, motorcycles, and basically anything with a motor.

While Jake dealt with a great deal of loss as a young person, he overcame many obstacles during his life.  Recently, he was involved in Second Helpings, where he met a mentor/friend who introduced him to a Men’s Lamplighter weekend.  Jake became a follower of Jesus and was very enthused and energized by this rebirth.  He looked forward to Sunday church services at Hazelwood Christian Church, especially attending Sunday School.  Jake's memory will be forever cherished by a loving family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Robert Brown and Johnny Newberry; an aunt, Barbara Harlamert.

Jake's survivors include his mother, Rebecca Brown; father, David Newberry; son, Dayton Hunter; sisters, Anna (Greg) Sigler and Kastonia (Adam) Newberry-Gray; grandmothers, Mary Sue Brown and Mary Newberry; niece and nephew, Naomi and Samuel Sigler; aunts and uncles, Mari and Steve Wisniewski, Matt and Cindy Brown, Joe and Pam Brown, Regina and Don Gemmel.

Jake’s Life Celebration® visitation and service will be held at Hazelwood Christian Church, 9947 S. County Road 0, Clayton.  Visitation will be from 12 Noon - 2 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2023, with services following at 2 p.m.  Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, is serving the family.  Visit
