Allen Eugene Harlan, 85, of Monrovia, passed away peacefully at his residence on February 4, 2026. He was born in Mooresville on November 10, 1940, to the late Faye and Daisy (Risk) Harlan.
Allen was a graduate of Howe High School in Indianapolis. He worked for several years as a Trades Pressman before beginning a long and dedicated career with UPS, where he served as a carrier for 58 years before retiring. Known for his strong work ethic and reliability, Allen took great pride in providing for his family.
In his free time, Allen enjoyed trips to the casino, trying his luck with scratch-off lottery tickets, and collecting fedora hats. One of his greatest joys was sitting on the swing on the back porch with his beloved wife, Gearldene, watching the wildlife and enjoying the quiet moments together. He loved traveling and road trips with his family, especially trips to Disney, which held a special place in his heart.
Allen married Gearldene Tackett on August 11, 1962, and together they built a life centered on love and family. He was a devoted husband and a true family man who never missed a birthday or holiday, always making sure his loved ones felt valued and remembered.
Allen Eugene Harlan will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his steady presence, and the simple joys he cherished throughout his life.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Gearldene Harlan; daughter, Jodi McCune (Darcie); sons, James Harlan (Shannon), Greg Harlan, and Glen Harlan; grandchildren, Lance (Krysten), Lindsey, Lacey, Jacob, Jay, Sylvia, and Madison; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his son, Barry Harlan; and brothers, Edward and James Harlan.
Final arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
