Billy E. Robinson

August 21, 1948 ~ April 14, 2023
Billy E. Robinson, 74, Mooresville, passed away April 14, 2023. Bill was born August 21, 1948, in Lafayette, Tennessee, to the late Alvis and Wittie Mae (Sutton) Robinson. After all of a monthlong courtship, he married Linda (Fry) on May 27, 1972, and she survives.
Billy graduated from Macon County High School in Tennessee before moving to Indiana to begin a career with the Allison Division of General Motors. He worked for Allisons for more than 35 years before retiring. Bill was a hard-working man who took great pride in providing for his family.
He was also an active father who coached his daughter Jenny’s softball teams. Bill was known to keep you on your toes with his steady stream of practical jokes. He also enjoyed the outdoors mushroom hunting and spending time in the mountains, especially Yellowstone. Bill’s grandchildren brought him much joy and happiness. It is fair to say that his cat, Blackie, had Bill well-trained for fresh food, water, and grooming every morning and evening. Bill will be fondly remembered for his generosity, honesty, and integrity by his loving family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Robinson and sisters, Helen Harper and Lennie Shrum.
Survivors include his wife of more than 50 years, Linda; children, Jennifer (Chris) King and Jason Robinson; siblings, Walter Robinson, Hazel Tackett, Clara Lucas, Betty Reid, Sheila Brockett, and Ruth Ann Andrews; grandchildren, Ashley, Adam, Eli, and Delaney; expected twin great grandsons who are on the way.
A private family farewell will be held on Thursday at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Graveside services will begin at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2023, in White Lick Cemetery. Visit www.CarlisleBranson.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.
Bill was a wonderful friend and neighbor. We always enjoyed chatting on the sidewalk or the front porch. I will never forget his comical nature and how he loved to tell stories. I will miss him very much, we were only a few doors apart on Delwood Drive.
I worked with bill for several years. He was always so happy and upbeat. He will be greatly missed. So sorry for your loss.
Aunt Linda, Jenny & Jason; so sorry for your loss! Uncle Bill is telling stories in heaven & making the angels laugh🤗! Thinking of you all in this very difficult time.
