Carolyn "Sue" Stevens

Carolyn “Sue” Stevens, 81 a longtime Mooresville resident, passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2024. Sue was born in Tuscola, Illinois on June 11, 1943, to the late Otis Glen and Margaret Louise (Lefler) Emberton.
Sue grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. She worked as a server at the Elks Club in Plainfield, was the former owner of Jack’s Pizza in Mooresville, and worked in housekeeping at St. Francis Hospital in Mooresville. She enjoyed her job as the manager of Kogermart in Little Point where she met and interacted with many different friendly customers.
Sue was a longtime member of the Eagles in Mooresville and a former member of the American Legion Post 103 Auxiliary. She was an avid gardener who loved growing flowers, especially begonias and geraniums. Sue spent a great deal of time crocheting blankets for family members and friends. She was very content being at her home where she loved to watch the birds, feed the squirrels, and play cards. Sweet Sue, as she was affectionately known as a younger lady, will be remembered for her loving and caring nature.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Garold Dean Claypool; a son, Ronnie Stevens, Jr.; and a baby brother, Roy Lee Emberton.
Survivors include a son, Don (Karen) Emberton; daughters, Debbie (Greg) Greene, Denise (Mike McGee) Collester, Natalie (Bill) Jones; sister, Patty (Greg) Palencer; brother, Max (Jan) Emberton; grandchildren, Stella and Andy; Amanda and Morgan; Ashley and Abbey; Brittany; nine great-grandchildren; her former husband, Ron Stevens, Sr.
Sue’s Life Celebration® Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 East High Street, Mooresville. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024, 3 to 5 p.m., with services following at 5 p.m. Cremation will follow services at the Morgan County Crematory, Mooresville.
