Cathy E. Godby

Cathy E. Godby, 56 of Mooresville, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, March 21, 2016. She was born February 13, 1960 in Indianapolis to Helen M. (Ragan) Stratton and Robert C. Arvin; her father preceded her in death. On September 20, 2010 Cathy was united in marriage to her husband, Keith W. Godby; he survives.

A hard worker, Cathy was employed in the Maintenance Department at Sumco in Indianapolis for 15 years, but most recently enjoyed her work as a homemaker and caregiver for her loving family. She was an active member of The Upper Room Church in Mooresville where she operated the sound board and managed the media room. She enjoyed making flower arrangements, cleaning her home, writing poems and cooking for her family; she was especially known for her lasagna and chicken. A loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend Cathy will be missed by her loving family.

Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Joe Arvin.

Survivors include her mother, Helen; husband, Keith; three sons, Steve J. Arvin (Kathy Davis) of Indianapolis, Zacheria D. Sweet of Mooresville and Jordan E. Sweet of Mooresville; brother, Robert Williams of Greenwood and 5 grandchildren, Stevie and Kaitlyn, both of whom she was especially close to and Pricilla, Cashlyn and Amira.

Rev. Ron Wagner will conduct a funeral service on Friday, March 25 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville. Following the burial, all are invited to the Friendship House in Mooresville for fellowship and a meal.
