Connie Darlene Duncan, 80, of Mooresville, passed peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at The Springs of Mooresville. She passed just an hour before Mother’s Day and was without doubt greeted in Heaven by her son, JR. She was born in London, Kentucky on October 31, 1944 to the late Homer Crowder and Vada (Hawk) Crowder.
She graduated from Hazel Green High School. She worked on the remodel team as a project manager for Ames Department Stores for many years. Most recently, she worked for Meijer as a manager in the clothing department. Connie greatly enjoyed gardening, reading, sitting outside, drinking coffee, and shopping for others. She had an extensive collection of figurines and apple décor. But the true “apple of her eye” was most definitely her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Connie is fondly remembered by her family including her grandchildren, Laurin (Cody) Mappes of Martinsville, Dustin (Makayla) Short of Mooresville, and Adam (Jayden) Short of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Michele Short of Mooresville; and great grandchildren, Caysen, Myla, Caden, and London.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Vada Crowder; son, Harold “JR” Short; and sister, Margie Arthur.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, May 17th from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Connie’s Life Celebration® Service will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hall following the service.
