Deborah Susan Crecelius

June 7, 1950 ~ December 29, 2025

Born in: Indianapolis, Indiana
Resided in: Mooresville, Indiana

Deborah Susan Crecelius, 75, of Mooresville, passed peacefully at her home early Monday, December 29, 2025.  She was born on June 7, 1950 in Indianapolis to the late Donald Hugh Crecelius and Doris (Griffin) Crecelius.

Deb obtained a Bachelor’s of Science from Purdue University and pursued understanding and knowledge throughout her life. She was an artist and creator who explored many mediums following her thirst for play and color. She regularly returned to photography, painting, collage, and fiber arts. Deb was never without a book (or two) and adored a cozy reading spot in the sun.

Deb and Vincent Gregory DeFelice married on June 17, 1978 and have enjoyed over 47 years of marriage. Together they built a home and raised and homeschooled three children. They built a life full of family dinners and days spent together playing games.

A sage to all who knew her, she demonstrated the teachings of her faith every single day. She was loving and kind, and generous with her time and energy. She had the ability to cut through the BS with her dry wit and good humor. Deb’s soul was perfect in every way and she will be missed beyond belief by those who knew her.

Deb will be remembered everyday by her husband, Vincent DeFelice of Mooresville; sons, John (wife, Theresa) DeFelice of Mooresville and Lee DeFelice of Mooresville; daughter, Anne Crecelius of Bloomington; sisters, Pamela (husband, Sanford) Lange of Indianapolis and Jan Ranger of Coatesville; and grandchildren, Ian DeFelice and Anya DeFelice.

Deb was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Doris Crecelius and brother, Dennis Crecelius. Her earthly remains will be cremated following the visitation.

This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. ~ Psalm 118:23

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I always enjoyed going to the Fall cookouts with Deb, Vince, family and friends. I only knew her for a short time, but knew she was a person of character and integrity. I also know she is much loved. 🥰

  2. Deb and Vince were our neighbors for over 30 years. Deb was so good at so many things. Some of the things I remember about Deb is that she was not only brilliant but very talented. She had beautiful flowers and I was always amazed at how she always chose low maintenance flowers. She was always willing to share them if I wanted any. Deb was an amazing photographer she had beautiful photos of family and nature.
I so enjoyed being in a the book club with Deb for about 3 years before we moved. It was the book club Deb started 20 plus years before . She was an avid reader.
When their kids were growing up Deb was totally dedicated to home schooling them and looking at John, Lee and Anne very successful at it.
Vince, was very supportive of her in all of her endeavors. They built a beautiful family life and we loved being their neighbors.
She will certainly be missed. May She Rest in Peace.

  3. Dear Deb,
I know your gone now, but I loved the time I’ve spent making crafts with you, Anya, and Theresa. I love the online church services that Anya and I would sit with you and listen to. I also loved the art that you would show me every time I would come over! It’s sad that your gone but your with the Lord now and not fighting. Love you Deb! -Love, Marlee Goodwin🖤

  4. From the first time I met Deb I could see she how special she was. Talented artist, unpretentious, stoic, gentle and kind.

  5. I will miss talking to Deb at the Mooresville Library where I work. I wasn’t aware of all her many talents but I knew she loved to read. Always so pleasant. I know she will be missed by many. So very sorry for your loss.

  6. Have not seen Deb for years, but we were friends in High School and Vince was also a friend from Southport. Deb had a quick smile and laugh and always made the people around her feel good. Very sorry to learn of her passing. My deepest condolences.

  7. I was so surprised to learn of Deb’s passing. We first met at the Mooresville Home Educators at First Baptist Church years and years ago. Her John and Lee were the same ages as my Hayley and Seth. Years later, we would talk at the library. Deb never seemed to age; her beauty and smile were timeless! My prayers and condolences go out to her family,
    Deb Koval

  8. Deb was a very special person. I enjoyed my time with her during book club. She was very loved by many and always helping other people. My prayers and peace for her family

  9. Deb was a person of grace, gratitude and quiet strength. She was a calming presence and I will always appreciate the wise advice and encouragement she gave me.
