Debra “Debbie” Kay Cooper

November 11, 1953 ~ November 29, 2025

Born in: Louisville, Kentucky
Resided in: Martinsville, Indiana

Debra “Debbie” Kay Cooper, 72, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025. She was born on November 11, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky, and later moved with her family to Indianapolis, where she graduated from Ben Davis High School.

In her younger years, Debbie loved staying active. She bowled competitively on a league and enjoyed playing racquetball. On February 22, 1973, she married the love of her life, Randall “Coop” F. Cooper. They eventually made their home together in Martinsville, Indiana, where they built a life centered on family, care, and quiet strength. Debbie and Coop raised one son, Randall “Randy” A. Cooper, whom she adored and was deeply proud of. As a family, they treasured time spent camping and visiting state parks, especially their trips to Spring Mill.

In recent years, Debbie found peace and comfort in her daily walks by the river at Waverly Park. She appreciated the routine and the quiet beauty of nature.

Debbie was a gentle, compassionate, and selfless presence. A quiet soul, she spent much of her life caring for others, rarely allowing anyone to care for her in return. She met life’s hardships with remarkable resilience. Having previously battled melanoma and breast cancer, she faced her most recent health challenges with the same determination and grace that defined her life.

Though not a member of any particular congregation, Debbie had a strong and steady faith. She believed deeply in God’s purpose for her life and found comfort in knowing He was with her – especially during times of struggle. Her faith helped carry her through many difficult moments and gave her strength when she needed it most.

Debbie was a casual, easygoing person who felt most like herself in simple, comfortable clothes. Her favorite color was blue, which beautifully complemented the sparkle in her bright blue eyes.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Randall “Coop” F. Cooper; her beloved son, Randy Cooper; daughter-in-law, Amy Cooper; and her treasured grandson, Conner Cooper. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Daisy.

Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Smith.

In honor of Debbie’s warm, relaxed spirit, the family invites guests attending her service to wear casual attire. Those who wish to honor her love of the color blue are welcome to wear it in her memory.

Her kindness, strength, faith, and loving spirit will be forever missed by all who knew her.
