Doris Lorene Bryan

Doris Lorene Bryan, 100, of Mooresville, passed peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Franciscan Health Mooresville. She was born on April 24, 1924 in Rome, Georgia to the late Jake and Mary Allen.

She married George Hiram Bryan and together they had seven children. At the age of 40 years old, Doris became a widow when George passed unexpectedly on April 1, 1965. 

She worked as a line worker at the Farm Bureau Hatchery and then as a baker at Dairy Land in Plainfield. 

Family was of the most importance to Doris. She was truly the happiest when she was surrounded by her large family. She enjoyed cooking anything and everything. Her family was especially fond of her homemade biscuits and gravy, pies, and turnovers. She loved country music, especially Charlie Pride. Additionally, she enjoyed reading, playing BINGO, and sunbathing.

She will be missed by her host of family including her sons, Timothy Bryan of Mooresville, Larry (wife, Terri) Bryan of New Palestine, and Richard (wife, Neoko) Bryan of Fulshear, Texas; daughters, Janice Jacobs of Mooresville, Susie Collins of Camby, and Tammy (husband, Kenneth) Robinson of Mooresville; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jack and Mary Allen; husband, George Bryan; son, Hiram Wayne Bryan; and all 9 of her siblings.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, September 6th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Doris’s Life Celebration® Service will begin at 9:30 am on Saturday, September 7th at the funeral home with an hour of visiting prior. She will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.

  6. Heaven got a new angel. Doris was a unique understanding presence in my life. I was and still am a friend to her son Larry. My father died when I was in High School and Doris always knew the right thing to say to me. She was caring and loving to all of Larry’s friends. Dear lord please look over Doris and all of her loving family. I was so lucky to experience the love and caring of this great woman.
