Earline Eleanor Houchins

Earline Eleanor Houchins, 77, of Greenwood, passed peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Life’s Journey of Avon Hospice. She was born in Fishers Island, New York on September 28, 1948 to the late Earl Bruce and survived by her mother, Rosalie (Ziebeka) Bruce.

She married her best friend and life partner, Ronald Houchins, on September 30, 1966. He preceded her in passing on June 27, 2006. Artistically gifted, she crafted many murals including several in public libraries, the Gregory Orchard, in private homes, and some for sick children in hopes of lifting their spirits. She was incredibly creative and passionate about her art. A large part of her life was her church, Mt. Gilead, where she volunteered wherever needed. She led an art ministry and was a prayer partner for many in the church.

Earline was a one of a kind person who loved her family deeply. She will be missed by many including her daughters, Angela (husband, Aaron) Nuttle of Greenwood, Natalia (husband, Don) Stuck of New Palestine, and Marianne (husband, Jay) Detar of New Port Richey, FL; siblings, Rosalie (husband, Kerry) Hastings, Maryann (husband, Larry) Foster, Butch Bruce, and Kenny (wife, Nancy) Bruce; grandchildren, Jazmin (husband, Clay) Cassidy, Jared Harper, Mackenzie Nuttle, Austin Valde, Spencer (wife, Krista) Valde, Angel (husband, Kaeleb) Woods, and Weston Davison; and great grandchildren, Everly Harper, Hadley Harper, Avaleigh Harper, Colten Harper, and Evander Valde.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, January 10th from 10:00am to 11:00am at Mt. Gilead Church, 6019 E. State Road 144, Mooresville, IN. Earline’s Life Celebration® Service will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, January 10th in the church. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Greenwood Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, Ronald.
