Elnora E. Overton

Elnora E. Overton, 96, a longtime Mooresville resident, passed away on October 29, 2023.  Elnora was born October 1, 1927, in Hanson, Kentucky, to the late Charlie and Ellie Marie (Meyer) Nelson.  She married the late Ruby Overton on April 21, 1945, and he preceded her in death in 1986.  Elnora later married Archie Lee Eades in 1988, and he died in 2008. 

She and Ruby moved to Mooresville in 1956, and Elnora became a fixture in the community.  At one time, she was an avid bowler, even traveling with her various leagues.  She loved to travel and visited Europe, Mexico, and all over the United States.  She enjoyed warmer winters at her home in Haines City, Florida.  Above all, Elnora was strongly devoted to her family.  She always stayed in close contact with her ten siblings on the Nelson side of the family who all affectionately referred to her as “Phoebe”.  When the family was younger, they were active members of the First Baptist Church, but more recently she was a member of Mt. Gilead Church.  Elnora will be fondly remembered for her devotion to her family and her generous spirit. 

In addition to her parents, Ruby, and Lee, she was preceded in death by siblings, Alvin, Timmons, Gerald, and Wayne. 

Survivors include her four children, Alice (John Nickels) Overton, Ron (Karen) Overton, Steve (Kelly) Overton, and Rick (Jeanie) Overton; siblings, Margie, Louise, Elmo, Christine, Elaine, and Ed; grandchildren, Laura, Gerald, Jason, Jacob, Jarod, Tyler, Aaron, Zac, Brad, and Alicia; eleven great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild. 

Elnora’s Life Celebration® Visitation will be Thursday, November 2, 2023, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 E. High Street, Mooresville.  The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2023, at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Mooresville Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Churches in Mission   or to League of Miracles.  Visit www.CarlisleBranson.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.
