Hester M. Gormon, 90 of Mooresville, passed away March 1, 2016 at Miller’s Senior Living in Mooresville. She was born February 12, 1926 in Martinsville to the late William F. and Dorthy M. (McDowell) Elliott. On September 7, 1947 Hester was united in marriage to the late, Robert E. Gormon; he preceded her in death in March of 1999.

She was a graduate of the Martinsville High School Class of 1944 where she graduated as the Salutatorian of her class. An active member of the Mooresville Friends Church, Hester served as pianist, organist and church treasurer. While her boys were growing up, she was proud to be active with them in Cub Scouts. She worked at Sears and Roebuck in Martinsville for 10 years and at Mooresville High School for a number of years. Hester also proudly worked for her family business, White Lick Automotive for several years before she retired.

Survivors include her two sons, Rowell E. (Lisa) Gormon of Raleigh, NC, Lee E. (Peggy) Gormon of Mooresville; a brother, Walter W. (Myrna) Elliot of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Kyle (Heather) Gormon, Derek (Jess) Gormon, Marilyn Gormon and Ricky Gormon; and one great grandson, Landry Gormon.

Her son, Mark R. Gormon; one brother, William T. Elliott, and one sister, Eva M. Hutchins also preceded her in death.

Family and friends will gather for visitation in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 5. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at White Lick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Mooresville Friends Church, Memorial Fund; envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
