Jacqueline Sims

Jacqueline “Jacquie” Sims, 57, Camby, passed away peacefully at home on December 31, 2024, after fighting a brief and aggressive battle with cancer. Jacquie was born January 7, 1967, in Texas, to Jack and Jean (Timmerman) Hall. She married her high school sweetheart, Jeff Sims, on August 13, 1988.

A bright student, Jacquie graduated from Mooresville High School in 1985. She attended Indiana State University and graduated from Purdue University (IUPUI) with a degree in mechanical engineering. Jacquie enjoyed a successful 27-year career with Eli Lilly. Her position became more involved with project management allowing her to use her strong talents in managing people, setting up new plants, and product development. She was most recently employed with Immunovant and worked with her team to relocate an entire plant to Denmark. Many of the chemotherapy medications that she found herself taking for her cancer diagnosis were ones that she helped develop and knew much more about than the average patient.

Jacquie’s greatest hobby was her family. She was an extremely active and proud mom who never missed the many sporting events as her children grew up. She and Jeff enjoyed a wonderful partnership in their marriage, always holding hands, showing their love and respect for each other.  She enjoyed traveling and always looked forward to at least one large family vacation each year, oftentimes to Disney. She also enjoyed visiting national parks and the western states. Jacquie was an animal lover and was especially fond of her furry and beautiful English Crème Goldens, Phoebe and Murphy. Her life became even more complete in recent years with the birth of her first grandchild, Peri. Tuesdays became “Gigi Tuesdays” as the two of them spent those days together making wonderful memories. The second grandchild, Tripp, will be born on Jacquie’s birthday, this coming Tuesday, January 7.

Jacquie will be fondly remembered for her intelligence, love for her family, and extremely generous and selfless nature.

Survivors include her husband and best friend, Jeff; children, Kylee (Michael) Polaski, Cory (Keleigh) Sims, and Mackenzie (Ben) Thomas; parents, Jack and Jean Hall; sister, Julie (Scott) McDaniel; grandchildren, Peri and Tripp.

Jacquie’s Life Celebration® Visitation will be held Friday, January 3, 2025, 4 to 7 p.m., at Mt. Gilead Church, 6019 E. State Road 144, Mooresville. The memorial service will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the church. Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family. 3. I had the great pleasure of working with Jackie in project management at Lilly many years ago. My memory of her is her infectious smile and laugh. We shared stories of our families and the joy they gave us. I am so sorry for your loss. God bless you all.

  4. So many fun times with an always supportive, loving friend. I loved sleepovers at her house and changing the heads on the statues in the bathroom. I bet we drove Jean crazy those nights! I loved to hear her say the word tomorrow. It made me think she was so smart. I don’t think she ever had any grade but an A. I remember picking class rings. She chose pink with rainbow and said her birthstone was ugly. I chose our birthstone. She said your ring will be so pretty, just not for me. She never belittled anyone and was always smiling. God gained a great one.

  5. I met Jacquie when our oldest daughters, Kylee and Elizabeth were in kindergarten and we became their Girl Scout leaders.

  9. I am deeply saddened to hear of Jacquie’s passing. She was an incredible person and a truly outstanding teammate. Jacquie and I both joined Eli Lilly in January of 1991, right after graduating from college. From the very beginning, she connected with everyone on the team and quickly stood out as a natural leader. We worked together in a team where the young engineers outnumbered the seasoned ones, and Jacquie was a guiding force for all of us. She had an amazing ability to engage with both internal customers and Lilly leadership, always managing expectations with grace and professionalism.

Our team of young engineers was incredibly close-knit. We shared many early mornings at LTC South for breakfast, enjoyed several social gatherings, and even went on a camping trip together. I still remember Jacquie and Jeff’s first puppy, Rufus, the chocolate Lab, causing mischief by chewing on their new home’s laundry room drywall—just one of the many moments that reflected her authenticity, warmth and sense of humor.

Jacquie was not just a colleague; she was a true friend. My heartfelt condolences go out to Jeff, Kylee, Cory, Mackenzie, her sister, and her parents during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, my friend. You will be deeply missed.

  15. Dear Jeff and family,
I knew Jacquie from Immunovant and worked with her on planning many CMC projects. Jacquie always came to our meetings with a smile on her face, a warm, calm sense of spirit, and a ‘can do’ outlook regardless of the situation. In my mind, I always see her smiling. 29. We are so fortunate to see Jacquie on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day while we could still talk and hug. We have known her & Julie since 1976 and later watched her date Jeff and eventually get married. We were at their wedding and all their kids weddings over the years. We love her like a daughter (though she did not need more parents). She was a bright light always thru a few vacations & their visiting with us in Florida. We are so sorry that we could not make the Visitation or Memorial Service but our hearts are with you through it all. Jeff & the kids were amazing taking care of her these last days. Love you all

  30. Around 1990 I first met Jacquie as she started her career at Lilly, and I was immediately impressed by her personality – not that of the stereotypical introverted engineer but totally outgoing and engaging. I knew early on that she would be in bigger roles soon, and we had better get out of her way.
A fine person to know, an even better person to work with, and I have no doubt that she was a super mom and wife.
    We will miss her.

  31. My deepest sympathy to the Sims family. I went to college and worked with Jacquie. She was a wonderful friend and person. I have many fun memories of our lunches together. She will be missed by many people.

  32. May the light of this flame bring comfort and peace to all those who are grieving. Our deepest sympathy.

  33. So blessed to have known such a wonderful and beautiful lady. The whole family has always been so sweet and fun! You’ll be missed but never forgotten 🙏🫶
