James Ray “Jim” Bryant

June 28, 1936 ~ April 12, 2025

James Ray “Jim” Bryant
88, Of Mooresville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on April 12, 2025 at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville. Jim was born on June 28, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Arvie Ray and Ida (Goodin) Bryant.

A lifelong resident of Morgan County, Jim grew up in Waverly. He worked in skilled trades at General Motors and later at Rolls Royce, where he retired after 57 years of service. He was a member of the Waverly United Methodist Church, where he met his wife of 70 years, Linda at a young age. He was also a member of the Mooresville Masonic Lodge #78, Murat Shrine and Scottish Rite. Jim loved spending time with his family, trying new restaurants in search of the best steak, spending time in nature; walking and biking at Pioneer Park, boating on local lakes and reservoirs, or simply exploring the beauty of the open road on his Harley, traveling out west. He will be remembered as a true family man that loved his family deeply, loved life to its fullest, by living out his personal motto of “work hard and play hard!”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Paul Bryant, a sister Beth McLeod, and a grandson Blain Bryant.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Linda (Wheeler) Bryant, sons Don Bryant, Mark Bryant, Jon Bryant, brother John “Steve” Bryant, sister Dorothy McLish, grandchildren Andre, Maggie, James Trenton and a great granddaughter Callie, who will all miss him dearly.

Family and friends will gather in celebration of Jim’s life privately at a later time.
