James W. Featherston
93, of Indianapolis, passed away on December 5, 2019 at Countryside Meadows in Avon. James was born on February 1, 1926 in Brooklyn, IN to the late Walter Featherston and Hazel (Hendrickson) Featherston.
James was a graduate of Martinsville High School. He married Arlene (Matney) Featherston on June 9, 1945, she survives. James worked for Indianapolis Power and Light for 42 years in various positions, most recently in the billing and collections department. He was also a faithful member of the Brooklyn Christian Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and traveling with his wife out west exploring the western United States including Colorado, Wyoming and Las Vegas, Nevada where they wintered together for several years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son Daniel Featherston; brother Harold Featherston; sisters Estelle Bayliff and Mary Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Arlene Featherston; son Jerry Featherston; daughter Rebecca Willard and her husband Allen; 4 grandchildren Jerri-Lynn Colonna and her husband Vince, Lee Featherston, Melissa Simmons and her husband Brandon, Samuel Willard and his wife Alisha; 4 great grandchildren Sydney Simmons, Dylan Simmons, Alexis Willard and Daniel Willard.
Services will be held Monday at 2:00pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. with visitation on Monday from 12noon until the services at 2pm. Burial will follow the services in Mooresville Cemetery.
While flowers are welcomed, memorial contributions may be directed in James’s memory to the American Diabetes Association.

In loving memory of James Featherston, my ex father in law. He was a young father I did not have. He was cool with Jerry and I in High School before we were married. Helped us with frozen pipes, a big dog, cars, and miscellaneous things. Was a good grandfather for our daughter Jerri Lynn. We were together many times after our divorce related to events in Jerri’s life. I have fond memories of him. May he RIP.
