Janet Lee Monroe, 88, of Plainfield, previously of Mooresville, left this life and the constraints of dementia Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Plainfield Healthcare Center with family at her side. She was born in Daleville on July 2, 1936 to Clarence Paul Cotton and Katherine Cora (Osborne) Cotton.
Janet had previously worked at Wards Apparel and Eli Lilly. On February 17, 1962, she married the love of her life, Robert Cordray. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1983.
She was of Baptist faith. She took great pride in her family and relished being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was an avid supporter of her children and grandchildren at all their activities. Additionally, she enjoyed wordsearches, collecting Precious Moments figurines, reading Danielle Steele novels, and bird watching from her feeders. Janet was an avid walker, usually walking two miles daily.
Janet will be deeply missed by her family including her sons, Rob (wife, Dawn) Cordray of Greenwood and Tom (wife, Amy) Cordray of Mooresville; daughter, Kim Covey (significant other, Leigh Ann Osborn) of Mooresville; grandchildren, Mackenzie Cordray, Tyler Schank, Jesse Cordray, Lindsey Cordray, Jonah Cordray, Kayla Covey, and Zachary Covey; and great grandson, Hudson Cordray.
She was preceded in death by her father; Clarence Cotton; mother, Katherine Cotton Konkle; stepfather, Donald Konkle; brother, Thomas Cotton; and stepbrother, John Konkle.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, June 14th 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Janet’s Life Celebration® Service will follow beginning at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville alongside her late husband, Robert Cordray, following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Marion County West Special Olympics in Janet’s memory.
