Jerry Witt
80, of Mooresville, passed away surrounded by his family at St Francis Hospital on October 8, 2017. Jerry was born on August 21, 1937 in Johnson County, IN to the late Clyde and Helen (Gaunce) Witt.
Jerry was a graduate of Morgantown HS in 1955. He was a diesel mechanic and a member of the Teamsters Local #135, working for various companies including McClean, Roadway and retiring from Overnight trucking in 2000. A long-time resident of Mooresville, he was also a volunteer fireman and little league baseball and basketball coach for many years.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers; Sam, Clyde, David Witt, a sister; Elizabeth Stillabower, brother in law; Charles DeMott and a daughter in law; Nikki Jensen.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (DeMott) Witt; children, Kirk Witt, Kevin (Joyce) Witt, Kim Witt; brothers, Denny, Benny, Bob Witt; sisters, Mary Ann Abbott, Nancy Hoskins; grandchildren, Erica Poe, ElAnn Poe, Jerry Poe, Amanda Witt, Ashley Witt; son-in-law, Rick Poe; several nieces and nephews, and a grand-dog, Miley.
Visitation will be held Wednesday Oct. 11th from 4-8pm at Carlisle- Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 11am also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jerry’s memory to the Humane Society of Morgan County, 690 W Mitchell Ave, Martinsville, IN 46151.

Sorry to hear of your lose. He coached me in Little League when I was growing up and have MANY memories of the fun we had. Eleanor, Kim, Kevin, Kirk and family you are in my thoughts and prayers.
My condolences to the Witt family. Our families have shared memories back to the days when Jerry & my Dad (Hank) were firefighters together and worked for McClean Trucking. May your wonderful memories of Jerry help you find peace.

It’s been a long time, but I never forgot my friends in Mooresville. You might not remember a Kitty Kirtley, with Five girls and one boy. Shayne and your Son Kirk was very good friends.
