Jimmy L. “Leonard” Parsons, Sr., 76, Mooresville, passed away June 25, 2025, after a brief and aggressive cancer diagnosis.  Mr. Parsons was born in Pennington Gap, Virginia, on September 18, 1948, to the late Elmer Ray and Bessie (Pugh) Parsons.

The family moved to Indiana in 1950, and Jim graduated from Martinsville High School in 1966.  He was a skilled tradesman for 32 years, retiring from Rolls-Royce.  He was also the owner/operator of Parsons Well Drilling since 1979.  Jim was a member of Harvest House International Church, where he served as a board member and as chairman of the building and grounds committee.  He was an extremely valuable member of the church and very capably remodeled much of the facility that is in use today.

Hard work defined Jim Parsons.  Not only was his work his passion, it was also his hobby.  He enjoyed it because he was good at it, and he knew he was helping people.  A man of his word, Jim was loving, dependable, generous, and compassionate.  As he often said, “If a man built it, a man can fix it”.  Jim could fix anything.  He was also known for his entrepreneurial spirit, being responsible for a couple of subdivisions that exist in the area today.  Jim will be fondly remembered by his loving family and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly LynnAnn Parsons, and a brother, Junior Parsons.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda, to whom he was united in marriage on April 23, 1984; children, Patrick Parsons, Jimmy L. Parsons, Jr., Jeremy Parsons, Kevin Moore, Gina Eagan, Lane Parsons, Haley Brown, Morgan Parsons, Aysha Parsons, John Gragg, Lisa Christy, and Noel Hall; siblings, Jack Parsons, Teresa Wilson, Arthur, Tommy, Kenny, and Betty Jo Parsons; six grandchildren; one great grandchild.
