John was just a toddler… I was quite a bit older, we were at the beach together back in the bad old days when alewives died and were raked into smelly, maggotty piles… John was on my left, and I began picking up alewives and opening my mouth and pretending to drop them in and chew and rub my belly with gusto.About the time Johnny picked one up to eat, I found myself rolling across the sand and came to a serious ass chewing from my favorite aunt, Aunt Mary.. I was too concussed to recall what she said, but I knew I had done wrong!! Mary and Roger, I am so sorry for your loss, I know how hard it was on my folks and us siblings to outlive a child and brother.. Roger, you have always been my favorite uncle too, I pray God heals your wounds as soon as possible, and also You other cousins too.. How sad for all of us, hope I have not offended anyone sharing a silly memory at a time like this .

We played on toy motorcycles, built (and walked in) platform shoes inspired by KISS, and spent many, many days on lakes Macatawa and Michigan. I will forever cherish these memories and countless more. Don’t worry, when a boat hits a wave wrong, I will remember to stand up and lay on the front to plane it out. Until we meet again … Love, Missy
