I can remember when my boy’s were in trop 250, Tood & Troy Messer and He was scout master you could not ask for a better person.
Uncle John is twelve years older than me and my favorite uncle. I remember him and uncle David playing with us kids,( Pam, Joe and me) on the lawn. He has always treated me good and more like a brother. As we grew up, he gave me the utmost respect. I have always looked up to him. He will be sorely missed by all who loved and respected him. He is one of our heavenly fathers sons that I am sure, the father is truly pleased with, and might very well have been greeted on the other side with “well done, thou good and faithful servant”. I would like all who read this to realize, it is just as important for us to die, as it is for us to be born, to fulfill the great and merciful plan of our great creator. Although there is sadness at our separation, we have so much to look forward to, as we will meet him, and all our progenitors, once again, in our fathers kingdom. This is where we can receive further light and knowledge from the father so we can become more like him. All the father has, he has promised to give us. I look forward to that time. “Families can be forever” I am 65 yrs old and not a bit afraid or ashamed to say , I love you uncle John. Till we meet again., Wendell
To all the Winks Family,
In 1970 Mike and I moved to Indiana when Mike went to work for Pierson-Hollowell. John and Linda were our first friends in civilian life. We have so many memories of fun times. At dinner on Sept. 16 (my birthday) we were telling the rest of our family about John. Mark and Lora remembered what fun they had playing outside at your house because you kids had such fun things like bows/arrows. I know you’ll really miss John and words don’t help much. Hugs to you all. Love, Jean Adams
We have a lot of fond memories of you all too! Babysitting for you, learning cake decorating, or Dads taking us to sled in Martinsville . . . lots of memories!
We had the good fortune of first knowing the Winks family thru John working with my son Kevin in Boy Scouts. Then many good times from there on. Love that family. Praying for Linda and family for great peace and comfort going forward.
The best time I ever had at Boy Scout Camp was with John and the Winks Family. Best neighbor you could ask for. Good man. Love y’all.
Rest In Peace Ruben and Joyce. Two of the kindest and loving persons I had as friends. Eternally together .
