John William McWhirter
70, of Mooresville passed away on December 1, 2025 at home. John was born on September 5, 1955 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Jack and Judith (Richey) McWhirter, who survives.

A hardworking man, John worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years, before retiring in 2012. He enjoyed spending time at home with his family and watching YouTube videos. He will be remembered for his work ethic, his determination (sometimes, stubborn), and his love for his family.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Brenda McWhirter.
Survivors include his mother, Judith McWhirter; son, Josh (Autumn) McWhirter; daughter, Rebecca (David) Couch; brothers, Jack McWhirter, Jerry McWhirter, Jeff McWhirter, James McWhirter; two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Ethan McWhirter.

Family and friends will gather in celebration of John’s life on Saturday, Dec. 6th from 12-2pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, with services beginning at 2pm Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at White Lick Cemetery.
