Kevin J. O'Farrell

Kevin J. O’Farrell, 66, Camby, passed away at his residence November 20, 2023, after a courageous battle with thyroid throat cancer.  Kevin was born December 28, 1956, in Indianapolis, to the late Robert J. and Julia Anne (Jennings) O’Farrell, who survives.  Kevin was united in marriage to Theresa Ann (Jones) “T.J.” O’Farrell, and she also survives.

Kevin graduated from Wood High School and later earned a bachelor’s degree from ITT.  He was employed at Eli Lilly & Company for 35 years as an engineer, retiring in 2018.  Kevin enjoyed a retirement job at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory and O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, allowing him to work alongside his funeral director daughter, Angela.  Kevin often joked that working at the funeral home was the hardest he had ever worked.

A devout Catholic, Kevin was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, but also stayed true to his old southside roots and always remained faithful to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  He enjoyed attending Mass there too with his mother and his siblings.  Kevin was a doer and stayed very active in the Knights of Columbus.  He was past Grand Knight of the St. Thomas More Council #7431 and served in other various offices.  He was past Faithful Navigator of the Bishop Chatard Assembly #245 and served in other various offices.  Kevin believed strongly in the Knights and all for which the fraternal order stands.  He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.  Kevin was also active in the Sons of the American Legion and served on the Mooresville Honor Guard.  As a longtime resident of Camby, he served as president of the Upper Wildwood Shores Homeowners’ Association for many years.

Kevin loved to travel, ride his motorcycle, and entertain at his pool in the summertime.  He especially enjoyed trips to the mountains in Tennessee.  He took great pride in caring for his yard.  Kevin never turned down an opportunity for a good time or enjoying a cold beer.  He loved his family immensely and always looked forward to chasing his grandchildren.  In recent years, Kevin and T.J. enjoyed spending time in Florida during the winter months.

Survivors include his wife, T.J.; children, Shaun (Tiffany) O’Farrell, Angela (Gary Lutz) O’Farrell, and Aaron (Shelby) O’Farrell; mother, Julia (Jennings) O’Farrell; brothers, Thomas O’Farrell, Brian (Libby) O’Farrell, Patrick (Jonna) O’Farrell; sisters, Kathy (Terry) Cook, Mary O’Farrell, and Brigid (Tim) Taylor; step-children, Rachel (Randal) Watts, Josh (Carrie) Watts, Christa (Vern) Ridgway; grandchildren, Shelby and Logan O’Farrell; best canine pal, Milo.
