Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Jennifer and Karen: A time of sadness, reflection, reconciliation and celebration may sound contradictory; yet, the (never rightly-timed) termination of your mother’s suffering provides an opportunity to benefit from a combination of these and other emotions. We have so many, particularly-fond “Mike and Leona” and “the Johnsons” memories—spanning some 4 decades—that remain among our most treasured keepsakes. We became acquainted with Mike and Leona shortly after our arrival in the Indianapolis suburban south-side in 1969. They moved into a ground-floor apartment below our upstairs unit and we enjoyed watching them with their dog (a poodle) as they exercised it in the large outdoor rear lawn area that was viewable from our upstairs windows. We mutually shared the joys and pains typically encountered by young families and we visited each other weekly—or even more often at times. Mike and Leona were justifiably proud of their two girls. We share that pride as well. Please accept our sympathy in the moment and our love and best wishes going forward. Don & Dinah

  2. Jenny & Karen, The memories that I have of your family are some of the best from my childhood. My parents also enjoyed talking with your mom and dad. I can remember one time that we went looking through your moms shoes…… Those were the tiniest high heels I had ever seen in my life!! Or having to clean and feed all of the birds before we could leave the house. Great memories….. I love you both, my heart hurts for you two and all of the kids…. I am always here for you two, no matter what happens, family always stays together. Karen, Jenny, Troy and all the grand kids, please know my thoughts and prayers are with you all during this sad time. Just know your mom is smiling down on all of you guys and sending her love, while she stands beside your dad. Much love!! Em

  3. Every month, when she brought in her rent check, I looked forward to my time with Leona. She was always bubbly and had that great smile working. We’d talk about what had happened in the last month and what she was looking forward to in the new month. The visits from her grandchildren were always greatly anticipated by Leona. She will be missed by our little community. My sympathies to everyone in the family. She was a honor to have as a resident and I felt like her friend. Betty Perry
