Leslee D. Payton

leslee payton

July 21, 1959 ~ August 5, 2025

Born in: Pewee Valley, Kentucky
Resided in: Avon, Indiana

Leslee Dee Payton, 66, Avon, formerly of Bloomington, was reunited in Heaven with her parents and her brother on August 5, 2025.  Leslee was born July 21, 1959, in Pewee Valley, Kentucky, to the late Rev. L.D. and Dorothy (Shearer) Payton.

While Leslee was born with various limitations, she lived a full and happy life.  She found much fulfillment in her time living in group home communities with Stone Belt in Bloomington.  She was employed in various assembly jobs and also as a custodian at Ivy Tech.

Coming from a family of ministers, it was no surprise that Leslee was quite spiritual.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mooresville, and she loved music, especially hymns played by the Gaithers.  Leslee’s innocence allowed her to enjoy the benefit of always seeing the good in others.  She was kind, caring, generous, and loved people.  While her time at Stone Belt was a great fit for Leslee, her last six months of residence at Majestic Care in Avon were also very lovely.  She had the opportunity to have two roommates who were exceptionally welcoming, and the staff were kind and caring to Leslee’s needs. Leslee will be fondly remembered by her loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rev. Dennis Payton.

Survivors include her sister-in-law and caregiver, Tammy Payton; nephews, Rev. Andrew (Leslie) D. Payton and Rev. Daniel L. (Sarah) Payton; great-nieces and nephews, Jayden Matheis, Paige, Ella, Emily, Carter, and Luke Payton.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025, 11 a.m. to 12 Noon, in the First United Methodist Church, 900 Indianapolis Road, Mooresville.  The funeral service will begin at 12 Noon.  Burial will follow in Truelove Cemetery, Trulove, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to Stone Belt. https://web.charityengine.net/SBDonationForm
