Martha J. Thompson, 90, Avon, formerly of Mooresville and Brownsburg, passed away at Wellbrooke of Avon, where she resided for the past nine years. Mrs. Thompson was born November 2, 1933, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late James O. and Stella G. (McDaniel) McGraw. She married the late Kenneth Thompson on February 2, 1952, and he preceded her in death in 2002. Ken affectionately referred to Martha as Precious, and as a result, the nickname stuck with her many friends and acquaintances through the years.
She attended Portsmouth High School and later graduated from Ben Davis High School after the family moved to Indianapolis. She enjoyed a successful career as a workman’s compensation investigator for General Motors and was a model for new GM vehicles for 30 years, retiring in 1987. She was a former member of the Mooresville Church of Christ and more recently was a member of the Brownsburg Church of Christ.
Martha was a beloved wife, mom, and “granny” to her loved ones who will always remember her for her dependability, love, and generosity. She enjoyed domestic and international travel and cheering on her grandchildren at their many events. She loved animals and was an avid sports fan. She was known for cheering loudly for Ohio State and Iowa. A natural leader, Martha was considered by many loved ones as the "Mayor of Mooresville", and while at Wellbrooke, she was president of the members' community. Martha will be fondly remembered by loving family and many friends.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband Ken, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Bob, and Don McGraw; sisters, Helen, Charlotte, Betty, Ruth, and Jean.
Survivors include three daughters, Kelli (Kenny Hornbrook), Kathy Wargo, and Natalie Thompson; son, John (Kelly) Thompson; a sister, Susie Morgan; grandchildren, Nadia, Benjamin, and Elizabeth; Joshua, Jaclin, and Jacob; Brandi, Brooke, Nicole, and Tiffany; Mattie and Jennika; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

My dearest Aunt Martha you will continue to live in my heart until we sit again for fried apples & biscuits at Grandma Thompson kitchen table once again. We will laugh & sing old hymns together with the rest of the family who went before us. Thank you for being in the best parts of my life.
My dear, precious Martha – we’ve spent so very many wonderful years together – can’t process that you’re no longer with me. We’ve traveled together by car, by airplane, by cruise ship and enjoyed every shenanigan with you. You will be forever be in my thoughts. Fly high dear heart ❤️
Aunt Martha was the best aunt in this world. I loved her dearly. I use to sit and wait as a child for her and uncle Kenny to get back to Portsmouth. I loved it when they came home for visits and for family reunions. I love you aunt Martha and you will be missed. ❤️
Aunt Martha was one of my treasured relatives! She was so beautiful! I will miss her so much! She has a very special place in my heart!
Martha and Ken have always held very dear memories for me when growing up. They were a big part of my childhood, to the parties my parents had including the 4th of July celebration every year closing the street to accommodate all the neighbors, trip to Pawleys Island and so much more. I will never forget the wonderful times we had with my family and yours. RIP sweet Martha. Till we meet again.
My dear “precious” Aunt Martha. When I was young I thought you were just the coolest person ever and so beautiful! I will treasure our trip to Ireland with you, Aunt Jean and Mom. Your words of comfort to me are that trip were just what I needed. Rest in Peace ❤️❤️

First please let me send my condolences to your beautiful family. Martha was one of a kind , she was a free spirit, genuine, spontaneous and loved not to mention a diva . There was never a person she made feel unwelcome. I was her admitting nurse when she first came to Wellbrooke 9 years ago we instantly became friends. She is definitely an angle flying high and still watching over all of the ones she loved. Rest my dear friend! You will be missed but never forgotten.
