Marvin J. "Shorty" Bain

Marvin J. “Shorty” Bain, 90 of Mooresville, passed away the morning of Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at his home. The son of Jesse and Daisy (Bayliff) Bain he was born in Monrovia on July 25, 1926. On November 17, 1978 Shorty was united in marriage to his loving wife, Loretta (Crusenberry) Bain and she survives.
After graduating from Monrovia High School, Shorty proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a carpenter for R.E. Wilson Builders out of Plainfield for a number of years and later retired after working in the mill at Newcomer Lumber for several years. Shorty enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, birdwatching, and spending time with his precious family.
Along with his parents, Shorty was also preceded in death by his four brothers, Norman, Rylus, Nolan, and Vaughn Bain; his son, Danny Bain, and his grandson, Chad Carson.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Loretta; one daughter, Cheryl Lynn Bain of Mooresville; daughter-in-law, Phyllis K. Bain of Mooresville; three grandchildren, Joshua (Tarri) Bain, Jason Bain, and Jessica (Brad) Hess; and six great grandchildren, Jacob, Ashlynn, Bradly, Jr., Jacynda, Ryder, and Kinley.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Shorty Bain on Friday, October 21, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at the Mooresville Cemetery.
